Does boatcoach work with the Concept2 PM5?
Mike – Yes, BoatCoach supports the PM5 using the USB cable. It may also eventually be able to connect through Bluetooth but that availability isn’t scheduled yet.
Does boatcoach also support the pm3 monitor ?
Yes, PM3, PM4 and PM5 are supported by using a Concept2 USB cable. PM5 also is supported using Bluetooth.
Does the app actually store the force plots as well? I’d be very keen to do some analyses/analytics on these plots to see if I can train a model that can tell you what to improve at different strokes. But so-far I’ve not been able to get access to these force plots the PM3/PM4 is generating,….
Hi Sander – at the present time the app doesn’t gather force plot data. – dan
Hi Sander – as of the 2.109 release, BoatCoach now supports force plot (aka “Power Curve”). You can look at the stroke-by-stroke power curve as your row. If you purchase the Analytics upgrade you can also see power curve stroke distribution and total and quarterly averages. In addition with the Data Capture upgrade you can email yourself the raw power data.
I’m having trouble clarifying the ‘export to GPX’ function. The Google Play description for Data Capture implies to me that export can be GPX or CSV with water workouts, but with Concept 2, the export is only to CSV.
Providing one buys the appropriate upgrades, can you export erg workouts as GPX (not CSV) for upload to sites like Strava? I recognize there would be no position data in the GPX, but would like to track my time/distance/pace/HR over winter training…
Thanks
Hi Nisha -
You can actually export erg workouts both GPX and CSV. Both the erg and on-the-water GPX files will include time, distance, pace, heart rate, and stroke rate and can be uploaded to sites like Strava.
best,
dan
Does the app also record power? This would be very useful for training platforms such as TrainingPeaks but also for keeping an accurate training log since heart rate lags behind.
Yes, BoatCoach also records power.
Please could you tell me does this work with a Garmin ant+ chestrap? No blue tooth.
You need a BLuetooth heart rate monitor.
